We wait for tools to eat gigabytes of RAM, fully inflate the artifacts, and spend tens of minutes building heavy global indexes and cross references... All of this is just to guarantee fast code searches later, but here is the contradiction. A compiled artifact is already highly structured, modern decompilers never utilize this, they waste massive amounts of time and memory reconstructing a bloated database of code relationships over already struc…

  • Show HN: Plurnk (Yet *Another* AI Harness)
    hn-ai· 15-sept

I am desperate for feedback on my homebrewed harness, "Plurnk." I've been dogfooding it on my RTX5070Ti with only 16GB VRAM as my daily driver for weeks now and it's genuinely better than everything else available (I'm biased). 1. Curation, not Compaction The model's fully responsible (bitter lesson) for deterministically curating its own context. 2. ANTLR Grammar The dozen verbs for the harness are optimized for model pretraining, looking like markdown while being fully integrated with an EBNF grammar that plugs into an AST for superior workflow and recovery. 3. Universal Resources Everything's addressable by the model through a pseudo-URI interface, including the log entries. 4. Omnipatterns Everything in the repo goes through treesitters which build a complete graph that the model can …

  • Ask HN: Are requests/demands coming from AI companies for regulation genuine?
    hn-ai· 16-sept

Lately I have been hearing a lot of people from AI companies asking for regulation and expressing fear on AI's capabilities. Are these genuine, or do they now realize that there is a financial bubble and they are trying to deflate it a bit? It seems that it is too late for regulation to kick in. It has to be an international body and it will take forever to come to a consensus and give this body some teeth. On the other hand, if the growth is exponential, it is not surprising that you notice too late to do anything substantial. How can we tell if these requests are genuine or not? I am inclined to think that they are, after listening to the CNN interview; but it sounds so strange. Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49722701 Points: 3 # Comments: 3
